ROADS in central Glasgow will close from today for a service to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Ceremonies in Glasgow Cathedral and George Square will be attended by Prince Charles, Lord Provost Sadie Docherty and heads of government from the UK, Ireland and the Commonwealth.
The city event is the first of three services of commemoration which have been organised by the UK Government to mark Britain's entry into the conflict.
From 7pm today, some streets around both the Square and the Cathedral will be subject to temporary road closures and restrictions.
On Monday, further road closures and restrictions will come into effect at 00.01am.
Some will remain in place until 7am on Tuesday, while others will finish at 6am on Wednesday, to allow the removal of barriers used in the commemorations.
The road closures have been agreed in consultation with Police Scotland.
