Team's top Rank charity aid of £1m

team members from one of the UK's biggest bingo chains have been praised after raising £1million for charity.

The Rank Group, which owns Mecca and Grosvenor Casinos, established a partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care in 2010 and since then has taken part in a range of activities to raise much-needed funds.

Mecca employees from branches at Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire and Drumchapel, The Quay and The Forge in Glasgow helped raise the milestone amount with events such as sponsored body hair waxes, head shaves and tea parties.

Mark Henderson, area manager for the clubs, said: "It's amazing to know that our staff and customers have contributed to raising such a massive amount for Marie Curie."

Murray Easton of Marie Curie said: "Team members and customers can be very proud of what they've achieved."
