AMY Wilson slept for up to 20 hours a day to escape the constant anxiety she felt.

The 17-year-old from Old Drumchapel became suicidal after suffering three sexual assaults on the bus home from school by a gang of teens.

Even the thought of doing the weekly shop with her mum filled her with fear.

Amy said: "I was sad and exhausted every minute that I was awake.

"I didn't see the point in living anymore and had no motivation for anything. I became a prisoner in my own home, too anxious to go anywhere."

After Amy was diagnosed with depression, a school counsellor proved to be a tremendous support for Amy but the teen still found she was unable to face going to school.

Then a career advisor told her about The Trust's Get into Beauty programme and despite her fears, Amy bravely signed up for the course.

Glasgow's Revival Retreat became the first beauty salon in Scotland to join the programme with the idea of giving young people free training and work experience.

By the end of the course, Amy, had stopped relying on her mum to accompany her everywhere and was taking the bus by herself. She enrolled at college and is now studying to become a beauty therapist, working a part time job and hoping one day to own her own salon.

She said: "The experience transformed my life. All the other girls were great and Lynne at Revival Retreat was just amazing

"The Prince's Trust never gave up on me, even when I was having a bad day."
