TENANTS in a sheltered housing complex in Glasgow received an early Christmas gift with a difference - a new community room.
Residents at GHA's Sannox Gardens complex in Dennistoun are delighted after a major refurbishment.
The new community room allows the tenants to take part in group social activities. The £178,000 refurbishment also includes a lift being installed, new overcladding and a new roof to keep homes warmer and drier, an upgraded garden area and a gymnasium to help tenants keep fit and healthy.
GHA Chair Gordon Sloan was joined by Bailie Elaine McDougall at the official opening.
The project was funded by GHA's North East Area Committee. The three Area Committees across the city - all led by tenants - make decisions about how to spend £1.5million on making their local areas better and safer places to live.
Gordon Sloan said: "Community rooms like this one are really important as they give older people somewhere to meet up and keep in touch with friends and family. It's really important that no one should ever feel isolated or alone in later life."
