1The Games between July 23 and August 3, 2014, will see 11 days of competition celebrating Glasgow, Scotland and the best sporting talent in the Commonwealth.

2 A thrilling programme of 17 sports is on offer. Ten are always on the programme at a Commonwealth Games and seven were selected for Glasgow from a choice of 16. There will be aquatics, athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, judo, lawn bowls, netball, rugby sevens, shooting, squash, table tennis, triathlon, weightlifting and wrestling.

3One million tickets will be on sale from August 2013.

471 nations and territories, representing one third of the world's population will take part.

5The Glasgow 2014 Queen's Baton Relay will visit every Commonwealth nation, from Anguilla to Zambia. With a special message from her Majesty, the baton is relayed around the world, ending at the Opening Ceremony.

66500 athletes and team officials will live in the Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village.

7Over 1.5billion people worldwide will watch the Games on TV.

8The Games organisers will have employed more than 1000 members of staff at full capacity, and around 30,000 contractors will deliver goods during Games Time.

9The Para-Sports programme will be fully integrated in the Games, helping Para-Sports athletes achieve greater exposure on the international sports scene.

10 15,000 volunteers. Scotland's friendliest people are needed to help make Glasgow 2014 special by taking on a wide range of vital, behind-the-scenes roles, from timekeepers to spectator services helping people find their seats, to medics, to drivers taking athletes to and from venues.
