UNDECIDED voters need a bit more convincing if Scotland is to vote Yes to independence according to Green MSP, Patrick Harvie

The Glasgow MSP said people want to vote Yes but are not ready to fully commit.

The co-convenor of the party is convinced Scotland is ready and has been impressed with the level of participation, which he wants to maintain post- September.

He said: "Where the debate is, is impressive. It was in danger of being shallow, but there has been a grassroots movement to get informed.

"At the end of it we are getting an electorate that is engaged whether it's Yes or No and we need to capture that enthusiasm.

"We don't want to go back to low turnouts and no engagement."

With less than two months until polling day Mr Harvie is not willing to predict the outcome, but is aware he and his Yes Scotland colleagues still have work to do.

He said: "It is still too close to call. With two months to go there are still people undecided.

"People are saying it would be good if we could be independent. They are seeing the benefit but something is holding them back. They will decide closer to the vote.

"I think Scotland is ready. I think a wealthy country like Scotland can afford it. People see the opportunities and see the attraction, but we are not over the line yet."

His task is to persuade people that the benefits outweigh the risks.

He said: "People see the opportunity for a more equal society to build a better welfare system close the equality gap, but they still have questions.

"I have never pretended it is a choice between utopia and disaster. It is a judgement between risk and opportunity, which exist on both sides.

"I think there is more opportunity with independence than risk."
