JIM McCOLL insists the Rangers Requisitioners will not give up their bid to join the Ibrox board - despite alleged threats being made towards them.

The Glasgow businessman is fronting a group that hope to oust the current Ibrox hierarchy at the AGM on December 19, with Malcolm and Paul Murray, Alex Wilson and Scott Murdoch aiming to win seats at the top table.

Former PriceWaterhouseCoopers chief Frank Blin withdrew from the process earlier this year and, at a meeting with fans in Glasgow last night, McColl said: "We've had threats, a number of us have dropped out because of those threats, but we're not going to let that happen.

"The two new directors (Graham Wallace and Norman Crighton) appear to be good people. We were considering bringing the new CEO in later, so we cannot criticise him.

"But we need additional people on to the board to get the club on an even keel."

The Rangers board released a statement ahead of the meeting, which was attended by 500 fans, hitting out at the board hopefuls.

And former Rangers director Paul Murray has criticised the current incumbents and PR advisors over recent statements.

Earlier the club had issued a statement which said: "We believe that fans do not want to go back to the days of administration, relegation, boardroom strife and infighting which will ultimately prevent Rangers competing once again at the highest level.

"We believe that this could be a result of what McColl's group is offering."

Mr Murray said the Ibrox bosses would have been better advised to come along to the fans meeting and debate the issues rather than criticise them.

"For the board to sanction that statement reflects badly on them," he said.
