The Strathclyde Police Chief Constable's Annual Report 2011-12, the last before the force ceases to exist next year once a single police force is created, showed that 1894 allegations were made against police in the year up to March 31, leading to 16 officers appearing at misconduct hearings - twice as many as the previous year.
Three were fired while six were asked to resign as an alternative to dismissal.
Three others were reduced in rank as a result of a misconduct hearing and one had pay reduced, another was reprimanded and one officer was fined.
