Three officers sacked after probes

COMPLAINTS against Strathclyde Police officers resulted in three being sacked and six being forced to resign in the last year.

The Strathclyde Police Chief Constable's Annual Report 2011-12, the last before the force ceases to exist next year once a single police force is created, showed that 1894 allegations were made against police in the year up to March 31, leading to 16 officers appearing at misconduct hearings - twice as many as the previous year.

Three were fired while six were asked to resign as an alternative to dismissal.

Three others were reduced in rank as a result of a misconduct hearing and one had pay reduced, another was reprimanded and one officer was fined.
