A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being pulled from a pub blaze by a DJ.

The blaze broke out at the Black Bull pub in Ayr on Saturday December 20 shortly after midnight, ripping through the upper floor of the 250-year-old building.

Flats close to the River Street pub were evacuated while 35 firefighters tackled the flames.

Two other people are understood to have been rescued by fire crews using a ladder, and one man was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.

A joint investigation is now underway between the fire service and police, to determine the cause of the blaze.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to the scene around 12.30 am and several flats nearby were evacuated.

"One man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

"An investigation is currently ongoing between Scottish Fire and Rescue and Police Scotland.

"Anyone with information should contact the non-emergency number on 101.

"The investigation is at an early stage and we are not able to say whether it is suspicious or not."

Meanwhile in Glasgow, two house fires broke out yesterday afternoon.

Fire and ambulance crews rushed to Kirriemuir Avenue in Cardonald after a fire broke out in a semi-detached home shortly before 2pm.

One person was treated at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

In Easterhouse, another fire broke out in a close on Denmilne Street around 3pm and one man was taken to the Royal Infirmary for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Crews from Coatbridge fire station attended the well developed blaze and left shortly before 4pm.

Outside the city, two road traffic collisions caused disruption for afternoon drivers yesterday.

A two-car crash at Stoneymullon roundabout on the A82 happened around 3pm .

One person was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital with a back injury.

A mother and child were also treated after a car crashed into a wall in Greenock.

The collision, also around 3pm, happened on the Inverkip Road.
