TIME IS running out for Community Champions nominations for West and Central Glasgow – so tell us about your local heroes now.

We want to hear about the outstanding individuals, top teams, amazing charities, dedicated public servants, driven sports coaches and uniformed officers who deserve recognition in our popular awards competition.

If you know someone who does something extraordinary for their community, then now is the time to tell us all about it.

West and Central is a big area, spreading from Townhead and the Merchant City to Drum-chapel and Yoker, covering diverse comm-unities and home to 141,000 people.

It is full of fantastic examples of men and women striving to make life better for everyone who lives in their area.

You can nominate your Community Champion on our website www.eveningtimes.co.uk, or by calling us on 0141 302 7319 to request a copy of the entry form.

Everyone will be welcome to attend an awards ceremony at the Glas-gow Uni-versity Union on University Avenue on August 16, when more unsung heroes , along with runners up, will be inducted into our hall of fame which has previously included Strathclyde University Law Clinic in the Public Service Award.

There are eight categories in which you can nominate.

Ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2014, we have introduced a new Sport category to honour the teams, clubs and coaches who promote grassroots sporting activities.

In addition, a new Uniform Services category pays tribute to those who keep our communities safe and well.

The awards also feature a Health and Wellbeing Award, driven by the success of the Evening Times Glas-goals campaign. The category recognises the efforts being made to improve the city's poor health.

There's no limit to the number of people you can nominate and entries from previous nominees and winners are also welcome.

A judging panel will whittle down the entries to a shortlist of groups and individuals.

The panel will be made up of representatives from our award partners, Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue, Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Community Planning Partnership and GHA.

All winners across Glasgow will be invited to the Grand Final in December.

Closing date for nominations is next Wednesday.
