Town bypass a step nearer

A LONG-awaited bypass at a North Ayrshire town took a major step forward today.

Investigation work is due to start within weeks on the bypass for the bottleneck A737 at Dalry.

Transport Minister Keith Brown today announced a £465,000 ground investigation contract for the project has been awarded to Ian Farmer Associates.

It will provide Transport Scotland with information to help shape the layout of the new road.
