Toys R Us launched its temporary shop at Silverburn this morning in the hope of catching the eye of shoppers in the run-up to Christmas just days after the Evening Times revealed how lifestyle brands Ness and Cath Kidston are also planning similar pop-up stores in the South Side retail complex for the festive season.
Silverburn general manager David Pierotti welcomed the toy giant and said: "It's is an iconic brand and a real family-favourite so having it in the centre really will enhance Silverburn's status as an exciting, easy and enjoyable shopping destination over the coming months."
Toys R Us plan day-long celebrations on Saturday with a special appearance from Geoffrey the Giraffe, goody bags and hourly prize draws with staff spending the weekend preparing for today's launch. They packed shelves with toys.
Shop manager Ashleigh Thompson admitted: "The end result is all worth it."
Store chiefs are also turning back the clock following last year's rush for tablets which were a festive phenomenon.
They are predicting a return to past Christmases of role play and all action toys including flying fairies, ghoulish dolls and techno pets.
