Mayhem for motorists: motorway crashes on M8 and M74
A crash early today caused motorway mayhem for commuters.
The accident, believed to involve multiple vehicles, closed part of the M8, near the Erskine Bridge, during the busy rush-hour period, and massive tailbacks quickly built up.
With the motorway at a complete standstill, diversions were put in place through Houston.
The accident took place on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 31 and 30.
Meanwhile, part of the M74 was closed northbound after two separate crashes near Abington.
Both accidents happened near junction 13 and it is understood five vehicles were involved.
