MOTORISTS will face city centre delays this weekend as parts of George Square are closed off.

The west side of the square, between St Vincent Place and West George Street, will be closed between 6am and 1pm on Sunday, to allow repairs to damaged floodlights at 7 West George Street.

Diversions will be signposted.

Meanwhile, from midnight on Saturday, parking around George Square will be suspended to allow work to start on upgrading the area.

A total of 45 parking spaces around the square will be out of use until October.

The first phase of the £500,000 facelift will see the square's red Tarmac surface replaced with new grey resin and the reinstatement of two grass beds.
