A FREIGHT train derailed sparking chaos for rail travellers in Lanarkshire.
Services were hit by delays and cancellations after the train came off the tracks between Whifflet and Motherwell at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.
Trains between Cumbernauld and Dalmuir, as well as services between Dalmuir and Motherwell were affected.
A ScotRail statement read: "Due to a derailed freight train between Whifflet and Motherwell, trains running through these stations may be delayed or cancelled."
