TWO men have been attacked by weapons days apart in North Glasgow prompting fears of a crime wave.

The first victim was targeted in Saracen Street, Possilpark on Monday.

Police rushed to the scene after they received a report of a man having been injured following an assault.

The man was stabbed at around 4.55pm before he was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The second man, 22, was slashed in Erradale Place in Lambhill at around 4.10pm on Wednesday.

His attack was described by cops as serious, and he was also rushed to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police Scotland have confirmed they are investigating both incidents.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman added: “Enquiries are ongoing.”

It is understood that the attacks are drugs-related and come in the aftermath of the shooting of Maryhill man Euan EJ Johnston last month.

The 26-year-old was shot as he sat in his car at traffic lights on Shields Road near to its junction with Scotland Street.

He was within a black Audi RS4 when his killer drove up beside him in a dark-coloured Audi Q5 and delivered the fatal blow.

The gunmen then sped off in his car and was last seen turning right into Scotland Street, heading for the M8 motorway towards the Kingston Bridge.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to save Euan but he later died in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police believe the car used in the shooting was set on fire in Bracken Street in the Parkhouse area of North Glasgow a short time later.

North Glasgow Councillor Billy McAllister said the attacks are just the latest of many that are not reported in North Glasgow.

He has called for more effective policing in his constituency to tackle the problem over fears that it will only get worse.

He said: “There are too many drug dealers in North Glasgow and not enough customers.

“They are all plying to rule the area because it is a lucrative business.”

He added: “My concern is the constituents. Some innocent person is going to get injured or worse if it continues.

“The two incidents are just one of many. There are plenty more attacks that are not being reported.

“These feuds in North Glasgow can’t go on. We need to reclaim our communities again and we need effective policing.”
