An attempted murder inquiry has been launched after a man was deliberately driven at and knocked down on a Glasgow street.
A 32-year-old man is in critical condition at a Glasgow hospital after he was seriously injured when a Volkswagen Golf drove into him in Jamaica Street, Glasgow.
Emergency services and police were called to the scene at 00.45am in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains for treatment, where his condition is described as life-threatening.
The road remains closed off to the public as police continue their enquiries.
A Police Spokesperson said: "Jamaica Street is closed whilst officers carry out enquiries. It is anticipated that it will remain closed until this afternoon. Local diversions are in place.
"Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to contact Glasgow City Centre CID via 101 or alternatively, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
