A GLASGOW couple had a memorable Valentine’s Day when they said ‘I do’ in the pub where they met.

Linda McVean, a bar manager, met her now husband Jonnie Gunn, at work in Denholms, Hope Street, 11 years ago.

Landscape gardener and Denholms regular Jonnie popped the question during a short break to Blackpool last year.

And less than a year later the couple have now tied the knot.

The couple celebrated an extra special Valentines Day on Tuesday by getting hitched in front of friends and family in the pub where it all began.

The Evening Times revealed the couple’s intentions earlier this month.

Linda explained: “I have a lot of regulars in the pub who wouldn’t have been able to come if it was in a church so I decided to have it in the pub instead.

“I’ve got seven of the girls who work with me as bridesmaids.

“I’ve managed to organise everything myself for under £300, including my dress and I made all the chair covers myself.”

The couple also booked the pub across the street as well to have a Hope Street street party.

Celeste McGinn, who runs Denholms in partnership with pub operator Punch, said: “At first I thought it was just a joke. I’ve never heard of an actual wedding ceremony in a pub before but I think it’s a great idea.

“Linda and Jonnie are a lovely couple and I’m delighted to be hosting their special day.”

Linda added: “We wanted to have a venue and a date when all of our friends and family could make it and we gradually realised that Denholms on Valentine’s Day was the ideal solution.”

“We have had so many happy memories here over the years that it really is the perfect venue for us.”
