Only in Scotland could the weather go from big freeze to big heat in the space of just a week, but that’s exactly what’s in store for the country from next week.
Starting on Monday, parts of the nation will bask in temperatures as high as 12C - just days after Central Scotland battled through a -3C front which brought snow and ice causing travel chaos.
The Met Office has said the change to milder weather is the result of a tropical maritime air mass.

The weather service explained this is a mild air stream which, during the winter months in particular, can raise the air temperature several degrees above the average.
While Glaswegians will see the mercury rise to 10C, those in Edinburgh, St Andrews, and Dundee will be lucky enough to enjoy 12C.
Last week’s drastic weather saw the Met Office issue a yellow warning for ice and forecasted between two to five millimeters of snowfall across Central Scotland.
