Edgy New York-style burger join Smashburger is one step closer to its grand opening in Sauchiehall Street.

As one of the fastest-growing restaurant concepts in the US, Glasgow is set to become home to the first Scottish branch - and fifth in the UK - when doors open at the 165 Sauchiehall Street venue in October.

Bringing a slice of New York’s cool meatpacking district to the streets of Glasgow, the eatery will be split over two floors and will have a bold industrial look with exposed brick, hanging pendant lights, and urban typography.

Established just ten years ago in Denver, Colorado, Smashburger has quickly become famous for its secret “smash” - a unique method of hand-formed beef meatballs that are then smashed onto a hot buttered grill, searing in the juices and flavour, producing a burger “unlike any other.”

Other menu options include chicken breast sandwiches, an avocado and garlic grilled Portobello cup vegetarian burger, as well as freshly-prepared salads and popular sides like garlic and rosemary Smash fries, all at affordable prices.

The restaurant will offer takeaway options as well as dining in.

A wide-range of drink options will also be available, including a freestyle touch-screen soda fountain containing over 100 different fizzy combinations, craft beers, wines, and creamy ‘handspun’ shakes made with Häagen–Dazs ice-cream.

The Evening Times first reported on the opening just over three weeks ago.

However, we can now reveal that the venue is on the lookout for staff with the first vacancies already making their way onto the company’s website.
