THE KING’S Theatre has been nominated for a prestigious industry award.

And now theatre lovers will have the chance to vote in the decision to determine the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre.

The Bath Street theatre has long held a place close to the hearts of Glasgow audiences.

Over the years the 104 year-old theatre has hosted an array of musicals, dramas, comedy and of course the famous King’s panto.

But now the UK Theatre Awards will offer King’s fans the chance to declare the theatre the very best in terms of audience-friendly experience.

Theatregoers have until 12noon on Tuesday September 19 to cast their votes.

And voters will be entered into a draw to win £200 worth of theatre tokens.

Theatre Director James Haworth, said: “I encourage anyone who loves the King’s to vote for us as the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre.

“Our patrons return to the venue time and time again, not only to see the fabulous productions that tour with us, but because of the friendly and welcoming experience they have during their visit.”

He added; “Glasgow is renowned as being the friendliest city in the UK and there’s no reason one of its best theatres shouldn’t be too.”

One winner from each regional category will be announced before the overall winner is chosen at the UK Theatre Awards ceremony at London’s Guildhall on October 15.

Over the years, the King’s Theatre has showcased many of the top actors in showbiz, including Laurence Olivier and Katherine Hepburn.

The 1800-seat theatre, which features seating on four levels, is currently operated by the Ambassador Theatre Group, under a lease from Glasgow City Council who own the building.
