TWO men died after their car was involved in a crash with a taxi before hitting a tree.
Their Honda Civic and a Hackney cab collided in Hillington in Glasgow's South Side yesterday, shortly after midnight.
The crash saw both vehicles leave the road and mount a footpath, where the Honda collided with a tree and the taxi hit a fence.
Two men in the car, its 23-year-old driver and his passenger, 25, died at the scene.
The 56 year-old taxi driver was uninjured. His 44-year-old male passenger was treated for minor injuries at the Southern General Hospital.
The accident happened on the A736, Hillington Road, south east of its junction with Deanside Road, Renfrew.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
Sergeant Jo McPherson, of Police Scotland, said: "Although this crash happened in the early hours, this is a busy junction and I am sure there would have been other vehicles on the road who saw what happened.
"Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or the Road Policing Unit on 0141 532 590."
