Two men have appeared in court in connection with a shooting near a railway station.

A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital after being shot close to Wishaw train station, in North Lanarkshire, at about 6pm on Sunday September 2.

After the incident, police said he was in a stable condition.

Paul Hands, 35, and Paul McCabe, 33, both from Wishaw, were charged with attempted murder at separate court hearings this week.

Hands was arrested on Sunday and appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday. He was remanded in custody.

McCabe appeared at the same court on Wednesday and he was also remanded.

The case was continued with reports being sent to the procurator fiscal.
