TWO people were taken to hospital after a blaze broke out in the basement of their house.
Fire crews raced to Blairhall Avenue in Shawlands at around 1.10am on Thursday.
Watch Manager David Reid, incident commander, said: "This was a fire in the basement of a three-storey terraced house.
"I committed four firefighters in breathing apparatus - they were equipped with two hosereel jets and successfully extinguished the main seat of fire
"An ambulance was in attendance for two occupants who appeared to be suffering from signs of shock.
"They were both taken to the Victoria Infirmary for precautionary check-ups.
"Our crews continued to check for signs of fire spread and ensure the fire was fully out before we left the scene."
Fire chiefs said large amounts of materials meant the firefighters experienced difficulty in accessing the main seat of fire.
