A survey has suggested two-thirds of university workers in Scotland are on zero-hours contracts.
Universities are more likely to have staff on zero hours than other workplaces, the University and College Union (UCU) said.
Zero-hour contracts require people to be on call and available for work but they do not compel companies to provide formal working hours.
Almost half of universities have more than 100 workers on zero-hour contracts (44%), with the rest ranging from eight to 44 staff.
One gives the contracts to more than 2000 workers.
