A MAN and a woman were forced to jump from the window of their flat to flee a fire that is believed to have been started deliberately.
Detectives are treating the blaze in Dalry, Ayrshire, as attempted murder.
The 39-year-old man and 48-year-old woman were in the upstairs flat in Lynn Avenue at about 11.30pm on Saturday when the fire broke out. After trying to put it out themselves the pair jumped from a window.
The woman was treated for injuries to her arms at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock, where she remains under observation.
The man is in a stable condition in Glasgow Royal Infirmary after suffering superficial burns and the effects of breathing in smoke.
