TWO men are to stand trial later this year charged with raping a woman in Govanhill.

Pardalian Rostas and Mugurel Bancs made their first public appearance in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday.

Both plead not guilty to a string of charges, including rape, theft and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The pair - both aged 29 - are charged with a sex attack on a 24-year-old woman on Dixon Road on May 19 last year.

It is claimed she was "intoxicated with alcohol" at the time.

Prosecutors allege Rostas had sex with the woman while Bancs watched and kept "a look out for passers by".

Bancs is then said to have forced her to the ground after she tried to stand up, before placing his hand over her mouth and also having sex with her.

Rostas is also charged with stealing £20 from the woman's handbag.

The duo face a final allegation of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The indictment claims the pair left the UK for Romania on June 1.

Bancs is also said to have contacted a Crofu Rostas and asked him to pay £200 to his wife.

Lawyers for the pair pled not guilty on their behalf.

Judge Lord Burns set a trial due to begin in July with the case being expected to last around seven days.
