Tyre depot pulled down after blaze

A DELIBERATE fire at a tyre supply depot caused £100,000 of damage after the building had to be demolished.

Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses to the blaze at Cadzow Auto Repairs in Hamilton in the early hours of Monday morning.

At around 1.35am, emergency services were called to a report of the fire at the factory in the industrial estate at the town's Low Waters Road.

The building had to be pulled down after fire fighters put out the flames.

Detective Constable Edward Mather said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw anyone at or near the factory.

"There is a taxi firm near the factory and customers may have seen someone behaving suspiciously."

Any person with information is asked to contact the CID at Hamilton police office on 01698 483300 or to call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111.
