The Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SPOTY) take place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow tonight, and Tennent's Lager have penned a special song to mark the occasion.

The song, complete with a humorous video is sung in deadpan Scots and features dry Glasgow humour.

The tune, created in conjunction with Scottish YouTuber 'Far in Jim', remarks on everything from athletes' dodgy acting in adverts to Andy Murray's video appearance at the SPOTYs last year.

Tennent's have also organised special deliveries for each nominee - a box filled with items that nod to their career and life, but also reflect Glasgow's typical tongue-in-cheek sense-of-humour.

Tennent's will give a 'Taps Aff' T-shirt to Rory McIlroy following his infamous post-Ryder Cup selfie, an Oyster card to Gareth Bale in light of speculation he's to be sold to Chelsea, and a book aptly entitled 'Run Like a Mother; How to Get Moving and Not Lose Your Family, Job or Sanity' to Jo Pavey, the long-distance runner who won gold at the European Championships, just 10 months after giving birth.

In a reference to his very own Pussycat Doll, Lewis Hamilton will receive a 'Love Cats' 2015 calendar, whilst Carl Froch will get a voucher for a facial and manicure.

All nominees, including Max Whitlock, Charlotte Evans and Lizzy Yarnold, will receive a special Glasgow Tennent's pint glass and product to help celebrate the occasion.

Tennent's Lager Marketing Manager, Jane Cannon said: "We wanted to welcome the awards and their nominees but with a bit of a Glaswegian twist, which will hopefully raise a smile or two.

"It's been an amazing year for the city and for Scotland and this is a great way to round 2014 off. We wish all of the nominees the very best."
