CURIOSITY got the better of one young cat who ended up taking a 80-mile trip from Bellshill to Dundee in the back of a refrigerated lorry.
The two-year-old female cat, who has been nicknamed Bellzie, is thought to have climbed into the 45ft HGV while it was loading up at Yearsley's yard on Belgrave Street in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, on New Year's Day.
Driver Derek Purdom (cor) discovered the pet on arrival in Dundee and cared for her before taking her to the SSPCA Glasgow Rehoming Centre.
Charity workers are working to reunite Bellzie her with her owners.
Assistant Manager Lorraine Alba said: "Bellzie is a lovely wee cat who's around two years old and in great condition so it's very likely she has simply wandered off from home and got herself in a spot of bother.
"She's a very lucky girl as the driver told us that his lorry has a freezer section and if she had found her way into there then she would not have survived the journey."
