CELTIC have today announced they are re-opening the section of their stadium that houses the Green Brigade fans group.

The move comes just two weeks after club officials relocated a section of season ticket holders who continued to flout repeated safety warnings.

Fans in section 111, home to the Green Brigade, have been the focal point for singing and displays at Parkhead in recent seasons.

Today's decision comes after "extensive and positive discussions" between club officials and supporters' representatives.

Previously, the club said concerns in the section include "overcrowding, moshing, body surfing, lateral movement and broken seating".

In a statement, released today, Celtic said: "Celtic Football Club announced today that it has suspended the relocation of season books for supporters within Section 111 at Celtic Park.

"Following extensive and positive discussions with supporters' representatives for the Section, the club has received assurances relating to previously raised safety concerns and unsafe behaviour within the stadium.

"Celtic has engaged with the Glasgow City Council Safety Advisory Group regarding this matter and they have noted these assurances.

"This matter will be monitored on an ongoing, match-by-match, basis by both the club and the Safety Advisory Group.

Earlier this month, a club spokesman said it had "been left with no option" to take steps to ensure the safety of supporters.

Celtic insisted their action came amid stated concerns from the Safety Advisory Group, which guides the city council on safety certificates, and their fears that the stadium could have its capacity cut or even be closed.

The club said instances of overcrowding, noncompliance with stewards, blocking of aisles, 'moshing' (jumping up and down) and crowd surfing (being lifted over fans) resulted in the section being closed.

Supporters in section 111, were offered a refund or given the chance to move seats.

A spokesman for the club, added: "Celtic Football Club would like to re-iterate its commitment and responsibility to ensuring the safety of everyone who visits Celtic Park.

"It is our absolute priority.

"The club is pleased to have engaged in positive dialogue in relation to this matter.

"We thank the Safety Advisory Group and supporters' representatives for their continued co-operation and we look forward to working together to ensure a safe environment in the stadium."
