BOGUS council workers are targeting people in the Rutherglen area of Glasgow, according to police.
Rutherglen Police say they have received information regarding potential bogus workmen in the town at present.
The bogus callers are targeting homes and claim to be working for the council.
They also state that the purpose for their visit is to replace internal doors, and it is claimed they then ask the householder to choose from a small brochure.
They are also alleged to be driving a small white van and not a council branded logo van, and have no official ID to certify themselves.
Rutherglen Police issued a tweet to warn people, saying, "We are asking that if anyone attends at your door, in circumstances like this or similar, to be vigilant and not to conduct any business with anyone you are not expecting.
"If in doubt, do not open the door and call police on 101 to report."
