Dundee United player Paul Paton is to stand trial later this year for allegedly assaulting Celtic goalkeepr Lucasz Zaluska.
The 27-year-old is alleged to have repeatedly hit him on the head, to his injury on October 20, last year. Papers at Glasgow Sheriff Court claim Paton assaulted Mr Zaluska at Ashton Lane and Byres Road in Glasgow's west end "whilst acting with another".
Paton, from Paisley, was not present at court today but his lawyer sent a letter on his behalf pleading not guilty.
A trial was set for October this year.
Midfielder Paton has also played for Queen's Park and Partick Thistle before joining his current team in 2013.
He also plays for the Northern Ireland national team.
