DANCING showgirls and an Elvis Presley lookalike helped prepare passengers for a new airline route.

The glitz and glamour of casino land awaited holidaymakers at Glasgow Airport to mark the first Thomas Cook flight from Glasgow to Las Vegas.

More than 300 people travelled on the debut flight with further flights to take place weekly until October 31.

The Vegas-style entertainment, including Rat Pack singers, was laid on in the travel hub's departure lounge and at the flight gate.

Francois Bourienne, commercial director at Glasgow Airport said: "The launch of direct flights to Las Vegas is fantastic news for Scottish travellers, and it further strengths our growing long haul route network."
