English and Scottish tensions surfaced in the Commons today - hours after Roy Hodgson's men triumphed 3-1 in Glasgow.
Two goals from Wayne Rooney and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's first half header helped England to victory at Celtic Park last night.
And Labour's Barry Sheerman (Huddersfield) could not resist raising the result with a Scottish colleague, who in turn quipped their friendship status may be demoted.
Before Mr Sheerman asked a question during a debate on business and enterprise, he informed shadow business minister Ian Murray that he would like to "commiserate" with him about the result.
Mr Murray, MP for Edinburgh South and a board member of Scottish club Hearts, replied: "Your initial comments mean you've probably been demoted from my honourable friend to just the honourable gentleman, given the football result yesterday, but we'll surely not hold that against you for too long."
