The former husband of bra tycoon Michelle Mone is consulting lawyers over claims made in her autobiography, which charts the collapse of their marriage.

Ms Mone's book, 'My Fight to the Top', lifts the lid on the couple's acrimonious split.

In excerpts published as part of the newspaper serialisation, the Ultimo boss confesses that she vandalised Michael Mone's sports car, cut up his clothes and fed him laxatives in revenge for his relationship with a designer she had hired.

Ms Mone said their marital problems worsened when Samantha Bunn, who was nine years younger than her, moved into a guest annexe in the couple's Glasgow mansion in 2011.

The couple, who have three children, split up at Christmas that year, with Mr Mone later becoming engaged to Miss Bunn. Friends of Mr Mone have previously said their relationship only began after the breakdown of his marriage.

In her autobiography, Ms Mone details claims about her arguments with her husband, including an allegation that he once bit her ear on a plane during a row.

After the split, she admitted she "put his cufflinks in the bin, let down his tyres, cut holes in his boxer shorts".

"I put laxatives in his coffee on the day he and Sam were going to a wedding," she wrote.

She also said that on one occasion, while they were still sharing the marital home in Thorntonhall, she poured cold water inside the bed, leading to her children to ask why she had done it.

"Looking back, I can see I was selfish. I should have thought about the effect all this would have on them, but it was my way of getting the hurt out," she said.

Mr Mone said that he was talking to his legal team about possible action ahead of the book's publication on March 5.

He said: "There are a number of things in this which are very serious allegations which are unfounded and untrue. I am talking to my lawyers and I will release a statement by the end of the week.

"This sort of thing damages lives and does not one any good at all."
