Thousands of Santas braved the damp weather to dash through the streets of Glasgow for charity.

The annual 5K fun run saw around 3500 people of all ages set off from George Square today wearing festive costumes.

The race was being held to raise money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice appeal after it was chosen by the council as one of two charities to benefit from this year's festive fundraiser.

The Glasgow charity is trying to raise £15million for a new hospice through its Evening Times-backed Brick By Brick Appeal.

Jennifer Easson, 40, took part in the race with her husband David and their daughters Olivia, nine, and five-year-old Freya.

Jennifer, who is part of the hospice fundraising team, said: "It was brilliant to see all these Santas running around Glasgow.

"I'm not a runner at all but I wanted to do this for the hospice.

"I've been part of the team there for 15 years.

"We were quite near the front so my girls really enjoyed it."
