An investigation has been launched after two men made racist comments towards three women on a train from Helensburgh to Edinburgh.

British Transport Police said the incident happened between Blairhill and Coatbridge Sunnyside on Friday, February 27, around 7.50pm.

The two men, who got on the 6.40pm service from Helensburgh Central to Edinburgh Waverley at Blairhill, made the racist comments towards the women, who were in the same carriage, before getting off train at Coatbridge Sunnyside station.

The men are described as being in their 30s with short hair.

Officers will be reviewing CCTV from the train and the stations in an attempt to identify those responsible.

Detective Constable Andrew Shields, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for anyone who was on the train or at the stations and witnessed the pair's offensive behaviour to contact BTP.
