Alex Salmond must come to the Clyde shipyards and 'look the workers in the eye' and tell them their future according to John Reid.

The former defence secretary said the First Minister has ignored the workers at BAE in Glasgow.

He said: "what we have yet to see is a visit from Alex Salmond. He will not come and look the workers in the eye."

Mr Reid said defence industry jobs are at risk as the UK Government will not build warships in another country.

Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont said Mr Salmond thought the shipyards jobs a "price worth paying for his lifelong independence project". The two labour politicians met workers on the banks of the River Clyde today.
