THE jobs of hundreds of steelworkers at two production plants near Glasgow have been plunged into uncertainty.

Fears were raised after Indian manufacturing giant Tata Steel revealed both sites are to be sold.
The shock announcement has placed a huge question mark over the future of 400 jobs spread acoss the Clydebridge plant at Cambuslang and the sister Dalzell site in Motherwell.
Both production plants are part of Tata’s Long Products Division, which employs thousands of workers at sites in the UK.
Tata today confirmed it has signalled its intention to sell the plants to the Geneva-based Klesch Group, an industrial company which operates across Europe.
The planned sale covers a number of UK-based sites including Tata Steel’s Scunthorpe steelworks and mills in Teesside, along with an engineering workshop in Workington and a rail consultancy in York, as well as other operations in France and Germany.
About 6500 people are employed at Long Products Europe and its distribution facilities, supplying products for industries including construction and excavation.
Both Scottish sites recently underwent joint investment worth £20million, with Tata keen to expand into the lucrative renewables industries.
Unions said they were disappointed with the way the announcement had been handled and were seeking talks to discuss any impact on jobs.
Business Secretary Vince Cable has pledged to work with Tata.
