Make your bid for the 'royal throne' as chair sat on by the Queen at the Games is up for auction

It's a game of thrones for royal fans who are trying to outbid each other to get their hands on chairs which the Queen and Prince Philip sat on at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at Celtic Park last month.

The plush chairs fit for a Queen and Prince appeared on the Commonwealth Games official auction website this week, and only hours remain for you to get your bids in.

And in the battle of the royals, the Queen's chair is more popular than Prince Philip's with bids of over £800 received so far.

The organiser of the auction said: "This is a one of a kind item and a special piece for us to share with those who were moved by the Games.

"It is testament to the city's slogan of People Make Glasgow for the organising committee to make items like this available to everyone."

Aside from the royal chairs, the online auction features around 10,000 premium articles or assets from the Games over a two-month period.

Typically, items will go on sale for three to four days but featured memorabilia like the Queen and Prince Philip's chairs can be on auction for up to 10 days.

There are thousands of registered users bidding daily on the site, and around 150 items are added each day as memorabilia is sold off.

Proceeds from the auction will help fund the cost of hosting the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
