Man dies after head-on road crash in Paisley

A MAN died after his van collided in a head on crash with a lorry on a busy road.

He was taken to the Southern General where he died shortly afterwards

At around 11.35am on Wednesday, a 58-year-old was travelling along Paisley's Sanderling Road in a white Ford transit minibus.

His vehicle, which was fitted with a trailer, crashed into an oncoming white HGV being driven by a 39-year-old man.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene to treat casualties.

The 58-year-old minibus driver was taken to the Southern General where he died shortly afterwards.

The 39-year-old HGV driver was uninjured during the collision, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the crash.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney of the Divisional Road Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses to contact him on 101.
