The man was taken to the Victoria Infirmary in the city's south side.

The accident happened this morning at around 8am in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.

The single-decker bus collided with a car on Ardencraig Road, at its junction with Tormusk Road, in what was described as "slippery" road conditions by rescue workers.

The male car driver had to cut free from his vehicle by fire fighters who removed both the passenger and driver doors.

He was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Infirmary in the city.

The nature of his injuries is not currently known.

None of the passengers on the bus were injured and they walked from the accident and boarded another bus, police said.

Officers closed Ardencraig Road between Tormusk Road and Castlemilk Drive following the crash.

Incident Commander Pete McCann from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, based in Castlemilk, said:

"This was an effective road rescue operation thanks to the close cooperation of firefighters and paramedics.

"By working together we managed to create space for the motorist to be safely lifted and carried out of his vehicle."

"Fire fighters and police worked extremely well in difficult underfoot conditions making the road very slippery."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "We received a call just before 8am of a road traffic collision on Ardencraig Road at the junction with Tormusk Road.

"No passengers on the bus where injured.

"One man, the male driver of the car, has been taken to the Victoria Infirmary.

"Police, fire and ambulance were in attendance.

"The road remains closed this time."
