GLASGOW will host this year's star-studded MOBO awards, it has been announced.

The renowned music ceremony will make a return to the city to be held in Glasgow's newest venue, The Hydro.

Chart toppers Rudimental will be performing at the bash on October 19 which will also feature girl group Stooshe and Jazzie B of Soul II Soul who won an award at the first ever show in 1996.

The Music of Black Origin Awards have been attended by the world's biggest urban music names over the years and offered a first stage to many UK artists including Rita Ora and Emeli Sandé.

This year marks the 18th ceremony and there are already plans for a return to Glasgow in 2015 for the 20th anniversary celebration.

The event was previously staged in the city in 2009 and 2011.

MOBOs Founder Kanya King said: "We are ecstatic to be coming back to Glasgow for the third time and are working flat out on making our 18th anniversary show a truly unforgettable one.

"Get ready for one of the biggest nights of 2013."

The members of London girl-band Stooshie, whose hits include Black Heart, promised the event will be an "amazing celebration" and added: "It's such an honour to be celebrating 18 years of MOBO Awards success.

"Our appearance at the show last year was truly instrumental in building our profile and music careers and we are really looking forward to this year's anniversary event at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow."

"This year, I'm delighted that we'll be hosting the MOBO Awards at The Hydro, which will provide a foretaste of what music fans and visitors can expect from this terrific new venue in years to come, especially when MOBO return in 2015 to celebrate their 20th birthday in their second home."

Tickets for the MOBO Awards will go on general sale tomorrow at 1pm.
