DETECTIVES were investigating today after a man was brutally attacked in Glasgow.
The 25-year-old suffered serious injuries in the attack, which police are treating as attempted murder.
The alarm was raised about 5.10am yesterday when officers were initially called to a report of a incident in Old Rutherglen Road, Gorbals.
When they attended, they found the injured man in the road.
He was taken to the Victoria Infirmary, where hospital staff today described his condition as "serious but stable".
It is understood detectives have yet to speak at length to the victim, who is still seriously ill in hospital.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in an
attempt to find out more about the attack.
A section of road at Old Rutherglen Road and McNeil Street
remained cordoned off yesterday.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with
information to contact them to help catch the attacker.
Witnesses and
those who have information about the
incident were today being urged to contact police.
A police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to an
incident in Old Rutherglen Road at about 5.10am on Boxing
Day.
"A 25-year-old man was found seriously
injured. Officers are treating the incident as attempted murder."
