A MURDER probe is under way after a man died days after he was brutally attacked.
John McCallum, 49, suffered serious injuries when he attacked in his Clydebank home.
He was rushed to the Western Infirmary last Thursday, but died on Saturday.
Police said Mr McCallum was found with serious injuries in his Meldrum Street home, at around 9.30pm on Thursday.
A post mortem examination has now taken place and police are treating his death as murder.
Detective Inspector George McAllister, from the Major Investigations Teams, is leading the hunt for the killer.
He said: "We are currently carrying out door to door inquires within the local area in an attempt to find out the whereabouts of Mr McCallum prior to 9.30pm on Thursday.
"I'd also like to speak to anyone who was in Meldrum Street on Thursday evening.
"And may have either heard a disturbance from within Mr McCallum's home, noticed anyone entering or leaving the address or hanging about within the street."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
