Nigel Farage has insisted the next James Bond must be male and a rogue, declaring: "I'm not handsome enough, but I'll give it a go."
The Ukip leader said it was important to be "faithful" to the author of the Bond books, Ian Fleming, when choosing who should succeed Daniel Craig in the iconic role.
Idris Elba has been touted as the first black Bond while Labour leader Ed Miliband said he would like a woman to take on the role and suggested former Bond girl Rosamund Pike.
After the suggestions were raised with him, Mr Farage was asked for his choice.
He told Magic Radio: "Well, you've got to be faithful to Ian Fleming, the original writer. It has to be male, it has to be a rogue of some description.
Told he could do it, Mr Farage replied: "I'm not handsome enough but I'm certainly rogue. I'd give it a go. How about that?"
Told he was not bad looking, Mr Farage said: "Thank you."
