The increase took the total to about 203,000 between May and July.
Employment levels increased by 6000 over the three months taking the total to just over 2.5 million - the highest level in almost five years.
Labour market statistics put the Scottish employment rate at 72.4%, above the UK average of 71.6%
rate is 7.4%, below the UK rate of 7.7% with 15,200 fewer people claiming unemployment benefit compared to
one year ago.
Last month 126,000 people were officially out of work and claiming jobseeker's allowance.
