Passengers face huge delays as part of Scotland's busiest railway line closed

Passengers are facing massive delays on one of Scotland's busiest railways lines.

Trains on the Edinburgh to Glasgow line are being delayed and diverted after the Glasgow to Croy section of the route was closed earlier today. The line is expected to remain shut for the next few hours.

Scotrail said the line was closed after someone was hit by a train.

Scotrrail tweeted: "Sadly a person has been hit by a train between GLQ and Croy. The lines are closed while emergency services attend. Alterations to services to be expected.

"Services between Queen St and Dunblane, between Queen St and Alloa and between Queen St and Falkirk Grahamston are cancelled.

"Services between Glasgow and Edinburgh are currently every 30 min, alternatively transport being arranged between Falkirk High/Falkirk G.

"Alternative buses are being arrange at Stirling, Queen St, Lenzie, Croy & Falkirk Grahamston for between 10.40/11am."

Trains on the line are currently being diverted through Cumbernauld and Springburn.

Passengers using Queen Street station have been warned to expect delays.
