Three teachers were involved in an attack by a high school pupil.

Further details of the incident at the Inverclyde school, which cannot be named for legal reasons, are currently unknown.

Ambulance crews confirmed they were also in attendance at the school.

It is understood nobody has been taken to hospital.

Police were called to the school shortly before 10 am today.

Three teachers aged 61, 58 and 54 are understood to have been assaulted by a pupil during the morning incident. Despite ambulance crews being in attendance, nobody required any medical attention.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 15-year-old boy will be reported to the Scottish Children's Reporter's Administration in connection with alleged assaults on three male staff members, aged 61, 58 and 54."

An Inverclyde council spokesman said: "A serious incident occurred this morning involving a fourth year pupil and a number of members of staff.

"No weapons were involved and no-one suffered any serious injuries. Police were called and staff and pupils have worked together to ensure the school returned to normal as quickly as possible."
